What you should know before you decide
What a Bi-LED projector is
A projector is a small optical unit: a light source, a curved bowl behind it, a metal shield and a glass lens in front. The shield cuts the top of the beam off in a straight line, which is what gives a projector its sharp cut-off.
In a Bi-LED projector the light comes from LED chips, and the one unit produces both low and high beam. It reaches full brightness the instant you switch it on, with no warm-up.
Why changing bulbs is not the same thing
A reflector headlight is shaped around the exact position of a halogen filament. An LED or HID bulb puts its light in a different place, so the reflector sends it in the wrong directions. The lamp looks bright from the front and the road is no better lit, while oncoming drivers get the glare.
A retrofit replaces the optics, not just the light source. That is why the beam ends up controlled and not just brighter.
What decides the price
Upgrades range from KES 30,000 to KES 75,000 per pair. Three things move the figure: the size of projector your housing can take, the specification of the projector, and extras such as decoder modules for cars that monitor their lamps or support high-beam assist.

Beam aim matters as much as brightness
A strong beam pointed too high is a hazard to everyone else and lights the trees, not the road. After fitting, the beam is set so the cut-off sits where it should and both sides match.

How the job goes

Inspect
We check the lamp housing, lens condition and wiring, then recommend a projector size that fits.

Open and fit
The headlight is removed and opened, and the projector is mounted in place of the old light source.

Seal
The lens goes back on with fresh sealant so moisture stays out.
- 4
Aim and test
The beam is aligned and both low and high beam are tested before you drive off.
