Range Rover lighting

Vogue, Sport, Discovery and others

A Range Rover's headlights are a large part of how the car looks, and on older ones they are often the part that has aged worst. The black Vogue in our photos shows what the front end looks like once the projectors and rings are put right.

These cars left the factory with good bi-xenon lighting. The job is to bring that back, not to change the character of the car.

Most cars in Kenya arrive as used imports that are already several years old. Their headlights have had years of sun before the first Kenyan owner switches them on, which is why lens haze and tired light sources are so common here.

Model by model

What each Range Rover has, and what we suggest

Factory lighting varies by grade and year. This is a guide. We confirm what your car has when we see it or a photo of it.

Range Rover Vogue L322 (2002 to 2012)

From the factory

Bi-xenon projector headlights, with LED accent rings on later cars.

What we suggest

Bi-LED projectors in place of the worn xenon units, new rings, and lens restoration. Fog lights upgraded to LED at the same visit.

Range Rover Sport (2005 to 2013)

From the factory

Bi-xenon projectors on most cars.

What we suggest

Projector replacement and lens restoration. We also deal with condensation inside the lamps.

Discovery 3 and 4

From the factory

Halogen or bi-xenon depending on grade, LED accents on Discovery 4.

What we suggest

Projector upgrade and fog light replacement.

Newer Range Rover and Sport (2013 onwards)

From the factory

Xenon or LED.

What we suggest

Mostly lens care and custom lighting.

What goes wrong

Lighting faults we see on Range Rover

1

Projectors that have lost their output

Years of xenon heat dull the projector. The light turns weak and uneven even with fresh bulbs.

2

Hazy or yellow lenses

Large lenses show haze clearly and it ages the whole car.

3

Condensation in the headlight

Common on the L322 and Sport once seals harden. We dry the unit and reseal it.

4

Lamp warnings on the dash

These cars check their bulbs. The correct decoders stop false warnings after an upgrade.

Questions

Range Rover owners ask

Will an upgrade cause bulb-failure warnings?+

Not when the right decoder modules are fitted. We test for warnings before the car leaves.

Can you fix water inside my headlight?+

In most cases, yes. The lamp is opened, dried and resealed, and we look for the cause so it does not return.

Can the rings be made brighter?+

Yes. New LED rings are noticeably brighter than aged originals.
